What is Pets for Seniors

August 30th, 2011 by Roberta Knauf

Hillcrest Pet Care Foundation has expanded to offer a Pets for Senior Program. We all know that  dogs and cats can be great companions for senior citizens. Although many seniors worry about the cost of care, and what will happen if I go first.
The HillcrestFlynn Pet Care Foundation will assist senior citizens in finding the right pet for their life style. Once an application  has been approved Hillcrest Flynn Pet Car Foundation will assist you with financial aid for food and routine vet care. Provide foster care if you are hospitalized or go out of town. Also if at any time you are unable to care for your pet the rescue group will adopt them back.
The application can be picked up at :
Shenango Valley Senior Center 220  N. BuhlFarm Drive Hermitage, Pa 724-981-7950
or HillcrestFlynn at 2619 E. State St. Hermitage, Pa. 724-347-5100
If you or someone you know would benefit from this program please call.

extending the drive

December 14th, 2010 by Roberta Knauf

We finally made it to 50,000 pounds (thank you Agway of Hermitage 1000 pounds today) I thought we would never get out of the 40’s. I really want to be able to have enough food for the full years, so I am thinking of extending the drive until Dec 31. Please lets hit that goal one bag at a time if need be.

Claudia’s Salon & Spa is Going to the Dogs

October 25th, 2010 by Roberta Knauf

HillcrestFlynn Pet Food DriveHillcrestFlynn Pet Food Drive

Our latest great event to raise food for the homeless aimals in our community was at Claudia’s Salon and Spa.  Whoa, what a day! The Steelers and Browns were playing, but out pet food drive was the Hail Mary play of the day.  Claudia and the gang raised food and money for 1600 pounds – that is a lot of hair cutting. But what touched me the most were the people that came out to support the cause.

HillcrestFlynn Pet Food Drive

Nicklaus Gelesky (above) not only decorated one of the donation drop off boxes but he also came to support the drive by coming for a hair cut and brought along his Mom and brother. I think next year he is going to be my PR person!  See you at the Howl-o-ween Nicklaus.

And Jake joined us for the day.  He lost 4 toes (photo), but he doesn’t let that slow him down!

Pet Food Drive Kick Off Great Success

October 25th, 2010 by Roberta Knauf

Hillcrest Flynn 2010 Pet Food Drive KickoffA very special thanks to everyone who helped to make the kick off event a great success!  The DJ Dean, (who volunteered his talent)  kept the day hopping with great music and wonderful commentary on each of the rescue groups in attendance.  The food went so fast that I never did get one of Matthew’s mom’s cookies. The weather was gorgeous, as were the Chinese auction items.  This certainly put everyone in a “let’s reach our goal” mood.
